, Renew, Energize, Donate: KW’s RED Day 2019, KW Woodlands

Each year, Keller Williams hosts RED Day in May. RED Day, which stands for Renew, Energize, Donate, is a dedicated day of service in honor of Mo Anderson, Keller Williams’s vice chairman. All Keller Williams agents and employees nationwide are encouraged to participate in activities that give back to the communities in which we serve, live, and play. This year, RED Day falls on May 9 and The Woodlands Magnolia group is teaming up with the Montgomery County Food Bank.

The Montgomery County Food Bank supports families right here who are “food insecure.” Being food insecure is when a family has to choose between purchasing food versus other necessities such as paying a utility bill. These families are supported by the Food Bank through programs such as Meals on Wheels for senior citizens and food backpacks that school children bring home each weekend to help feed their families.

Each month, over 75,000 Montgomery County residents are food insecure. To put that in perspective, it takes about 75,000 people to fill NRG Stadium for a Rodeo event or Houston Texans football game. Just $25 can feed a child for an entire month, and over 40% of our food insecure residents are children.

Keller Williams’s goal this year on RED Day is to fill part of a semi-truck with nutritious, non-perishable foods such as rice and beans. Agents and other volunteers will package the food and help load the truck, among other efforts. In 2018, RED Day brought in over 20,000 pounds of food, and our goal this year is even bigger!

You don’t have to be affiliated with Keller Williams in order to participate in RED Day. Here’s how you can help. Register using our SignUp Genius link and volunteer alongside the Keller Williams team and others. Not free on May 9? Consider volunteering on a different day and/or making a food donation onsite at the Food Bank at 1 Food for LifeWay in Conroe. You can also make a financial contribution directly on their website.

No matter how you choose to help, know that Keller Williams and the Montgomery County Food Bank appreciate your help as we work together to serve our community!
