Pretty soon it is time for area residents to enjoy Spring Break – a welcome pause in both work and school schedules. Living in Texas, it’s easy to pick a Spring Break destination without ever leaving the state or the area.
How about spending Spring Break in the Texas Hill Country?
Here you’ll find Six Flags over Texas for fast thrills; the San Antonio Riverwalk for a casual stroll (and a bite to eat) along the shaded river; the historic Alamo for a look at Texas’ most sacred site; or enjoy a cave tour, zip line challenge and panning for gems at Natural Bridge Caverns.
If you just can’t get enough of the beautiful Texas outdoors, spend this Spring Break on the Guadalupe River. Take the family camping at one of several campgrounds located along the river and enjoy river activities such as tubing, rafting and fishing. New Braunfels and the Guadalupe River bring together the best of both worlds. There is the solitude and peaceful retreat of camping and fishing, but you’re still a short distance from great dining and shopping. Don’t miss Schlitterbahn where the family can enjoy everything from exhilarating water slides to lazy river tubing.
Head out to Frederickberg to climb the 425-foot pink granite monadnock (the largest in the US) at Enchanted Rock State Park: the view from the summit is incredible. Stop in Wimberley on the way and hit Wimberley Zip Line tours for incredible 15 mile views from 10 zip lines.
Whether you choose the high adrenaline rush of floating above the treetops or spelunking subterranean Texas – or anywhere in between – there are plenty of family friendly attractions close to home in the Texas Hill Country.
